Scanner apps have been a major part of online learning and work from home. These apps allow a person to scan a document or a piece of paper and turn it into a PDF, Word Document or Presentation. In this blog, I show 3 of the best free Scanner Apps for Android and iOS.

1. Adobe Scan

Adobe Scan Is a Free Scanner app for both Android and iOS and has the essential features of a scanner app. You can also Markup the scans and also save them in multiple formats. You can also scan books by aligning the dotted line with the page creases. The app will automatically split it into two pages.

It also contains many filters and page sizes to choose from. In the filters tab, you can make the page look like black and white paper, coloured paper and a lot more.

Overall, this app is great in terms of features and usability. Sharing the files is also easy as it supports Apple Airdrop and can easily share files to the Acrobat Reader app on your PC or Mac.

2. Apple Notes

Apple Notes is an app exclusive to iPhones and iPads. From iOS 14 onwards, Apple has added the functionality to scan documents and text, which can then be converted into a PDF or text file. The Scan Documents function opens up a window which has very few features but is very usable.

After scanning, Apple notes will adjust the quality of the scan to make it very easy to read. It also allows cropping the documents after scanning.

However, only being available on Apple devices makes this awesome scanner feature a huge miss on Android.

3. Microsoft Lens

Microsoft Lens is a Scanner app from Microsoft Which allows you to scan pictures and documents to export into all Microsoft Formats (Word, PowerPoint, Excel, OneNote etc.) and PDF. The Interface is similar to Adobe Scan and has a generous amount of features.

However, at times, the interface might get laggy and may even crash the app. The App also supports sharing a OneDrive link for easy and fast sharing.
