Nothing Ear(1) Review – Best in Segment?

The TWS (True Wireless Stereo) Earbuds segment has been receiving a lot of new products recently. One of the latest products has been the Nothing Ear(1). In this blog, I go over the company, all the features, The Sound Quality, The Design, the Price, etc.

The Nothing Company

­The Nothing Company was founded in 2020 by Carl Pei, Who Co-Founded OnePlus. The Company is based out of London, United Kingdom. Their first Product was the Nothing Ear(1). As of June 2022, Nothing is set to launch a smartphone.

Features: Nothing Ear(1)

The Nothing Ear(1) comes with a load of features out of the box. Starting, The Ear(1) has a feature called fast pairing which allows you to instantly connect your pair of these earbuds through a pop-up that shows if the Bluetooth is on. This feature is only available on Android. iOS users should Long Press the Button on the side till a white light shows up. Then, it can be connected through the Bluetooth settings page.

Another smart feature is In-Ear detection. This feature allows the individual earpieces to detect whether it is placed in the ear or not. If it detects that the earpiece is removed, any music playing in that earpiece will stop playing. Do note that the other earpiece will still play the audio if still in the ear. The Case also supports Qi-Wireless charging. You can also Swipe up and down on the earbuds for certain actions. It also supports double and triple taps.

The Nothing Ear(1) App

The Ear(1) Device also has an App that can be downloaded both on android and iOS. This app has features such as a built-in equalizer, and a panel to customize the tap and swipe functions, and update the firmware.

The app also shows the battery status and can allow for connecting multiple devices.

Design: Nothing Ear(1)

The design of Nothing Ear(1) is quite different from its competitors. The Case is half transparent, showing the earbuds in place. The Earbuds themselves are partially transparent, showing the parts such as the battery, the charging magnets, and the speaker. The overall design of the earbuds and case is good and eye-catching. However, The case is prone to scratching due to its transparent state.

Sound Quality: Nothing Ear(1)

The Sound quality of the Nothing Ear(1) is just purely amazing. The Bass, treble, and voice have been tuned in such a way that each individual detail in the sound stands out. Combine it with features such as Active noise cancellation and it becomes way more amazing. The Equalizer also offers a lot of flexibility. The Volume is pretty good and one will be happy by keeping the volume at 60 or 75%.

Battery Life: Nothing Ear(1)

The Battery life is just average for the segment. Each earbud offers 4 hours of playtime which is quite low compared to the galaxy buds and apple AirPods, its main competitors. The case can charge the earbuds 4 times.

Price: Nothing Ear(1)

The Price of the Nothing Ear(1) is ₹6,889 for the white edition and ₹6,999 for the black edition. That translates to roughly 88 US Dollars. Making this, a very Value for Money Product.

Conclusion

The Nothing Ear(1) is a great product for its price and offers great specs and features. The sound quality is on par with Apple Airpods and galaxy buds way higher in price. Well, that begs the question, Is Nothing Ear(1) the best in its segment? Well… It is very close to being. But to an average buyer, it is the best. If you are considering a TWS, do consider this.
