Hello There! Welcome back to my Blog.
The internet has played a very important role in connecting all of us across the globe. As time passes, we humans will rely on the internet and technology even more. However, The main gateway to the internet has been the Web Browser.
A Web Browser is software that enables users to access various resources on the internet. However, most web browsers are lacking a lot of features, and feel cumbersome to use. This is where Arc Browser comes in. Arc aims to re-invent the web browser by introducing an all-new design and new features, which improves productivity and can be easily accessed.
In this blog, I talk about the various features of Arc Browser and Showcase them to you.
Introduction
Arc Browser is a product of the Browser Company. The Arc browser exhibits an all-new unique interface with a sidebar design. It is based on the Chromium Engine, The Same Engine which Google Chrome runs on. Arc Browser hosts a lot of new features such as ‘easels’ (A Place to Scribble Ideas, etc.), Archived tabs, and a lot more. The Added benefit of the usage of the Chromium engine means that Google Chrome extensions can be installed on Arc through the Chrome Extensions site.
Interface
Arc Browser exhibits a new interface that is divergent from the ones we see in Chrome, Firefox, and Edge. To some, It will take time to get used to the new browser, its features, and its interface. Arc has a very intuitive and user-focused layout and a clean and easy onboarding process.
The first thing that catches the eye is the sidebar. The Sidebar acts as the main focal point. It houses the Tabs, Bookmarks, Easels, etc. Opening new tabs is also different.
Instead of opening a new page, Arc opens up a Search dialog box which lets you see all the tabs open and type in a URL or a search term. Interestingly, Tabs can also be pinned, which allows for easy access to those specific tabs.
Overall, the interface of Arc Browser is divergent from other browsers and is very user-friendly and easy to use.
Easels - A Place to Scribble
Arc Browser hosts another unique feature - Easels. Easels are a type of ‘scribbling notes’. You can place all your ideas and information in them, which makes them accessible and consolidates them. An Easel can be opened like another tab. An Easel is a page you can create inside the Arc browser that's composed of snippets from other websites. In its simplest form, you could think of an Easel as a mood board — you can grab pictures from around the web and paste them into an Easel.
Other Features
Besides these, the Arc Browser features a lot of other features.
Arc Browser allows you to use websites in split screen mode, which allows for easy access to more information and increases productivity.
Arc Browser includes the feature of ad-blocking, which reduces the clutter faced on the internet and gives a cleaner and seamless experience. Arc Browser uses the extension 'uBlock Origin' for this.
Arc Browser introduces the concept of spaces, where you can have multiple spaces for different purposes such as work, entertainment, studies, etc. Having multiple Spaces you can move between is more effective than having multiple web browser windows open.
You can also use the improved bookmarking system to manage the sites you frequently visit. The New Tab button on Arc functions more like Spotlight search, meaning you can access almost every aspect of the browser. Together, the Arc browser can better manage multiple versions of the web you need every day.
How to Download?
As of now, Arc Browser is only available on Mac. However, Phone and Windows Versions are under development and may be available soon.
